History of Championship
Championship promoted by CMLL during its Japan shows. The title was deactivated on June 8, 2001 following Chikako Shiratori retirement from active competition in wrestling.
On November 6, 2019 through CMLL Informa, the promotion announced the launch of a new version of CMLL Japan Women's Championship. It was established in order to be disputed on Lady's Ring joshi puroresu promotion, whit whom the promotion began a working relationship. A tournament was set in order to get the opponent for Dalys La Caribeña to dispute the new belt.
