1997
The first Rey de Reyes tournament was held at el Centro de Convenciones, Madero, Tamaulipas on 1997.02.21. Latin Lover was the winner.
1998
The 2nd Rey de Reyes tournament was heled at El Torero, Naucalpan, on 1998.03.01. Octagon was the winner.
1999
The 3rd edition of Rey de Reyes, held at El Torero in Naucalpan on 1999.03.07, was won by Cibernetico.
2000
The 4th edition of Rey de Reyes, held at El Torero in Naucalpan on 2000.03.05, was won by Abismo Negro.
On 2001.02.17, Abismo Negro defended his Rey de Reyes crown versus Cibernetico's AAA Camepon de Camepon Championship, and lost. Cibernetico won the physical crown, but it's unclear if he became Rey de Reyes.
2001
The 5th edition of Rey de Reyes, held at el Centro de Convenciones, Madero, Tamaulipas on 2001.03.30, was won by La Parka Jr.
La Parka Jr. and Cibernetico teased a feud over the crown Cibernetico has previously won from Abismo, but no match for it was ever held.
2002
The 6th edition of Rey de Reyes, held at Auditorio Benito Juárez de Zapopan, Jalisco on 2002.03.17, was won by Canek
Canek successfully defended the title on November 2nd, defeating Cibernetico in a title for title match for the UWA World Heavyweight championship.
2003
The 7th edition of Rey de Reyes, held at Auditorio Benito Juárez de Zapopan, Jalisco on 2003.03.16, was won by La Parka Jr.
This year, the preliminary match was between the six previous winners:
Latin Lover (1997), Octagon (1998), Cibernetico (1999) versus Abismo Negro (2000), La Parka Jr. (2001), and Canek (2002). Abismo's team won, so the final was a singles match between La Parka Jr. and Abismo Negro. (It's unclear why Canek didn't advance.) La Parka Jr. won the singles match to take the title for a second time.
2004
Jeff Jarrett won the 2004 Rey de Reyes. There was no tournament this year, only a one on one match held on 2004.03.21 at Toreo de Cuatro Caminos, Naucalpan. Jeff Jarrett defeated Latin Lover in the tournament.
Reigning champion La Parka Jr. could not participate in the tournament due to a Abismo Negro related neck injury. At first, AAA did not consider this an 'official' Rey de Reyes, but Jarrett has been included consistently in recent years.
2005
The 8th edition of Rey de Reyes, held at el Centro de Convenciones, Madero, Tamaulipas on 2005.03.11, was won by La Parka Jr.. It was a six way match, including Latin Lover, Konnan, Jeff Jarrett, Chessman and Abismo Negro. Parka was awarded the victory not by defeating anyone, but because all (besides Latin Lover) attacked him and pulled off his mask, causing a disqualification.
2006
The 9th edition of Rey de Reyes, held at el Centro de Convenciones, Madero, Tamaulipas on March 10 was won by Vampiro. This year's edition was included four trio teams in one elimination match

- Guapo: Shocker, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
- Sect Cibernetica: Cibernetico, Chessman, Muerte Cibernetica
- TNA: Konnan, Ron Killings, Samoa Joe
Wrestlers were individually eliminated as the match went on, leaving Vampiro and Cibernetico as the final two. La Parka Jr. intefered, hitting Cibernetico with a chair, helping his partner win the match.
2007
The 10th edition of Rey de Reyes was held at El Toreo De Naucalpan on March 18th. This year's edition was a six man elimination match. Wrestlers were grouped together, but it was essentially a one on one match with six wrestlers.
Parka, Abismo and Rhyno were the final three. Parka evaded Rhyno's Gore, which hit Abismo instead. Abismo was pinned and eliminated. Rhyno later charged Parka again, Parka moved again, and Rhyno ran into a chair. La Parka Jr. cradled him to win the championship and become a four time winner. He was given a sword as a trophy.
2008
The 11th edition of Rey de Reyes marked a return to the traditional 16 men in four way matches style. The tournament was held in Plaza de Toros Monumental Lorenzo Garza, Monterrey, Nuevo León, on March 16 and won by Zorro.
