Estrella Blanca was born on January 15, 1937 in the mining town of Angangueo, Michoacán. He came from a very humble family. His father died very young, so his mother, along with her siblings, were forced to move to Mexico City in search of better opportunities. His first approach to wrestling was in 1946 where he was impressed by what he witnessed. When he saw a match between Blue Demon against Bobby Bonales he thought about becoming a professional wrestler as well. One of his purposes as wrestler would be to help his mother with the expenses, since they were seven siblings. It was in 1950 when one of his brothers suggested practicing boxing, but he wanted to be a wrestler and they took him to those who could teach him. He had several trainers, and the training was not easy. One day, his then trainer Pedro Centeno, "El Olonés", told him that he was not born to be a wrestler. Despite that comment, he did not give up. Other trainers who contributed to his preparation were: Sordo Flores (who eventually became his father-in-law), Jesús el Herrero, Satanta, Raúl Romero and at some point he trained with Chico Hernández at the Gimnasio Gloria.
In the beginning he used some ring names such as Joe el Chamaco and La Boa. It is said he also used the name of Cruz Diablo early in his career. The name and image of Estrella Blanca were not his choice, it happened spontaneously. His greatest idol was El Santo and he wanted a mask identical to that of his idol, however, everyone told him that this was impossible. Mr. Martínez, the famous mask maker of the time also warned him that he could not make that mask for him. Instead, he designed a similar mask for him with some modifications, and the most characteristic: it was blue, with a white star on the forehead. The mask came with the name included. At first the young wrestler was not convinced by that name, and was even made fun of because that name seemed more for a woman. One advice he received from El Santo was that he must jealously take care of his identity in order to maintain a double life; as an extra fact, he had permission from El Santo regarding the design of the mask.
Estrella Blanca made his debut on 1954, although in his first matches he performed under the name Cometa Azul. He was distinguished by his technical, fast and innovative wrestling style, always looking to perform different executions in each show. He became a great draw in both Arena Puebla and Cancha de San Pedro. The brightness of Estrella Blanca was so intense, that it reached the Arena Coliseo and the Pista Arena Revolución. He toured around the Mexico and abroad as well. His retirement took place in 1994 discreetly at the Arena Neza. In addition, he was a great trainer, he also learned to design masks and gears, this was because many of his rivals destroyed his masks.
The Estrella Blanca name has continued through his family. His sons Estrella Blanca Jr., Estrella Blanca II, Estrella Blanca III, Estrella Blanca 2000 and his grandchildren. Other wrestlers also took inspiration from his mask design.
Claims to have defended the AWWA World Lightweight Championship 50 times. Without a doubt, what stood out the most was his apuestas record, which is said to be immense. In interviews, Estrella Blanca himself stated to have wagered his mask about 700 times, of which he achieved around 300 masks wins and more than 100 hairs. Like Super Muneco, these masks wins are more important in quantity than quality.
Estrella Blanca was honored at CMLL Homenaje A Dos Leyendas 2019 in their Puebla version.

Career
Luchas de apuestas record
Estrella Blanca's list of mask/hair wins are based on magazine interviews. Those without dates are claimed in those interviews but should be treated as unconfirmed.
