- 01/09 - Salsero appears on a Promo Azteca card wearing his mask despite losing a mask vs mask match 2 weeks earlier to Juventud Guerrera
- 01/10 - Mini Vader and Mini Mankind (formerly Espectrito I and II) debut their new gimmicks for AAA in Nez. On the same card Hector Garza makes his AAA debut after jumping from EMLL.
- 01/15 - Rey Misterio Jr. appears on the Regis and Kathy Lee show from NYC.
- 01/19 - AAA participates on the WWF's Royal Rumble PPV show from the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. In matches that took place before the telecast Perro Aguayo Jr. and Venum beat Maniaco and Mosco De La Merced, Mascarita Sagrada and La Parkita beat Mini Mankind and Mini Vader, and Octagon, Tinieblas Jr., Blue Demon Jr. beat Histeria, Heavy Metal, Abismo Negro in what was reported to be the best matches of the night. On the actual PPV Hector Garza, Perro Aguayo, Canek beat Jerry Estrada, Heavy Metal, Fuerza Guerrera. Also, Pierroth Jr., Mil Mascaras, Latin Lover, and Cibernetico particpated in the Royal Rumble.

- 03/21 - EMLL draws 10,000 to Arena Mexico for a show commemorating the 100th anniversary of Salvador Lutteroth's Birthday. Lutteroth was the founder of EMLL in the 1930's and was Mexico's leading promoter until his death in the 1970's.
- 03/22 - Picudo comes out from the crowd to smash a bottle over Heavy Metal's head in Durango in an attempt to copy the famous angle in 1995 where Mascara Ano 2000 did the same thing to Perro Aguayo.
- 03/23 - Ultimo Dragon defeats Psicosis at Uncensored. During their walk to the ring Kevin Nash and Scott Hall wear Azteca T-Shirts is support of Konnan again.
- 04/01 - EMLL celebrates 54 years if running shows in Mexico City's Arena Coliseo. Satanico retains the CMLL Middleweight Title against El Dandy in the main event.
- 04/04 - Steel defeats Rayo De Jalisco Jr. in the finals of the 4th annual EMLL Int'l Grand Prix Wrestling Tournament in Arena Mexico. The Tournament, one of EMLL's major shows of the year, draws a disappointing 5000 fans.. Mora Promotions runs a show in Tijuna's Municipal Audotrium where rivals Negro Casas and El Hijo Del Santo team in the main event to defeat Scorpio Jr. and Bestia Salvaje. Konnan and Vampiro team up for the first time in several years at a Promo Azteca TV taping in Xochimilko with Mascara Sagrada to defeat Psicosis Cien Caras, Pantera Del Ring.

- 08/06 - One of the most famous Lucha venues in the world, Pista Arena Revolucion, collapses to the ground. EMLL owner Paco Alonso had sold it weeks earlier.
- 08/10 - Konnan teams with Mil Mascaras, Mascara Sagrada to beat Nikozuna, Yokozuna, Doink at a WWO show in Watsonville, CA before 2000 fans.
- 08/18 - EMLL draws 1850 fans to Tokyo's Korakuen Hall on their 2nd tour of Japan. The main event saw Mr. Niebla win a battle royale.

- 09/14 - AAA draws 18,500 fans, the largest crowd of the year in Mexico to Guadalajara's Rio Nilo Coliseum to see Perro Aguayo, Perro Aguayo Jr., Heavy Metal beat Sangre Chicana, Cobarde, Picudo in a cage main event. On the undercard Antonio Pena introduces the new Histeria, Psicosis, and Mosco De La Merced.
