championship belt

Current Champion

The most recent and possibly final middleweight champion is Octagon, who won the championship on July 15, 2006. Outside of a couple matches with Fuerza Guerrera, the championship quickly became dormant. Octagon did not bring it to matches or even talk about it much. AAA vacated the championship in 2008, part of an effort to move away from commission regulated championships, but they or Octagon may still be in physical possession of the championship. The title has not been mentioned since Octagon left AAA and joins the other non-CMLL national championships as functionally being defunct.
