Profile
Notable luchador rudo since at least 1975. Born in Aguascalientes but raised in Guadalajara. He began training judo, then karate; none of those sports made him feel satisfied. One day at the Casa de la Juventud an olympic wrestling trainer invited him and he liked it. He was trained by El Abuelo Carrillo in professional wrestling, and made his debut in Arena Jalisco; began as tecnico but he eventually made his rudo turn. His first ring name would be Príncipe Maldito, but his opponent's name was Torbellino Maldito; Abuelo Carrillo suggested to change the Maldito for Joel. He is known for his stiff style wrestling technique. He was invited to Mexicali where he met Manuel Hernandez and asked for an opportunity.
His first match in Arena Coliseo Mexicali against Fili Nava. He was one of the pioneers of Arena Nacionalista. His greatest matches were against Super Astro, Cesar Valentino, Coloso Colosetti, El Santo, Karloff Lagarde, Luis Mariscal. He has wrestled in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, Arena Mexico, and almost all of Mexico along with cities in the USA. He wrestled in Los Angeles in the Olympic Stadium; his most notable rivals were Piloto Suicida, Misterioso, Vampiro Canadiense, Hijo del Santo, and Chris Jericho. Opened his wrestling school while he was in Colorado he trained Big Van Vader's son and Vader himself asked to assess his son. With El Estudiante made an unstoppable tag team. Named the Best Wrestler of Baja California for two consecutive years in 1978 and 1979.
