Started his career in wrestling during 1970s. He had to retire from wrestling after ten years due to health issues. Trained for four years before becoming a professional wrestler. His debut was in a Battle Royal in a wrestling event in El Cercado, Nuevo Leon. He did not even know which would be his ring name. Then the promoter told him that his name would be Garringo. He did not like that name, but he never change it.
