Biography
After training at the Arena Naucalpan dojo with Scorpio (Rafa Núñez) and Raúl Reyes, he made his pro debut on October 5, 1997, at the Arena Naucalpan, teaming with Shiima Nobunaga to defeat Hipnosis and Averno 2000 in the 2nd match of the card.
As weird as it may seem considering the difference between both wrestlers' style, Azteca's idol is Dr. Wagner Jr.
EMLL scouts spotted his talent and on February of 1998 they signed him away from IWRG. He became a member of the "Grupo Cibernetico" of young wrestlers that train together under the guidance of head trainers Guillermo "Memo" Díaz and Negro Casas, that teach them both pro and amateur style wrestling.
He kept wrestling in the small arenas (especially Arena Xochimilco) but he made his Arena Coliseo debut on August 30, teaming with Supremo II and losing to La Flecha and Sombra de Plata via DQ.
Since then he kept being featured in the "primeras" (opening matches) of the Arena Coliseo, always teaming with other rudo youngsters/veteran undercarders like Vaquerito, Jeque and especially Fiero and Cafre. His opponents always are people like Flecha, Sombra de Plata, Alacrán de Durango, Pegasso and his most popular enemy, Ricky Marvin.
His first match in the most important lucha building in the country, Arena México, was on July 2, 1999. He teamed with young prospect Fugaz to lose against the team of Ricky Marvin and Sombra de Plata.
On July 16, 1999, he teamed again with Fugaz to defeat Marvin and Sombra de Plata in a Lightning Match that was the fourth lucha of a seven match Arena México card. This match stole the show and all four youngsters got an standing ovation from the crowd.
The success of this match was so big that all four guys wrestled each other several more times at Arena México cards, including the September 24 "66th Anniversary Show", but in this big event the rudo team lost.
Azteca made his Japanese debut on November 23 losing to Ricky Marvin (also debuting) during a CMLL Japan show in Yokkaichi. All reports say that both guys had exciting matches and even though they were unknowns to the crowd they got over really well.
He teamed with Máscara Año 2000 on December 17 at the Arena Coliseo "Gran Alternativa" tournament where a veteran teams with a young wrestler. They lost in the first round to Felino and Tigre Blanco that eventually won the whole thing.
Another of his big matches was the one at the March 17, 2000 Arena México card (shown on PPV) that featured the Villano III vs. Atlantis máscara contra máscara match. He wrestled against Ricky Marvin in a **match, which is an excellent rating considering they had to pack all three caídas into 10 minutes. Ricky won that match the important thing is that both wrestlers had their first full match on Mexican TV.
Sangre Azteca has been eventually elevated to the 2nd/3rd match of Arena Coliseo cards, and he'll keep being elevated as long as the older stars decide to retire. He has already won two masks in his career (Ángel del Amor and Pegasso) but his main goal is to defeat Ricky Marvin in a mask vs. hair match. Sangre Azteca is very young, but a clear leader as can be seen how he perfectly directs his team and calls the action during trios matches. It is thought that unless something goes wrong, he'll be the best worker of the new generation of young EMLL wrestlers, so expect this young man to keep improving fast.
