Current Champion
El Hijo del Santo is the current champion. This is his ninth reign. Like Santo himself, the championship is independent and not bound to any promotion. Santo hasn't been seen with the title as of late, replacing it with the WBC Wrestling Championship as the trophy belt he brings to the ring (but doesn't actually defend.) However, when a title tournament was held to declare a new champion without him, he protested in his newspaper column.
The second Hijo de Rey Misterio also holds a claim on this belt. He won it as part of a four man title tournament at the relaunch show for the WWA promotion.
