Early Career
Mexicali based luchador, He is a third generation wrestler from La Dinastía Hernandez. Before become a professional wrestler, he began as a mascot under the name of Pandita, succeeding Principito Negro who was the first versión. He started his training at the age of 14 with his father. However, he left the trainign and restarted with his grandfather Caudillo II, Angel Diablo, and Killer Dog. Thunder Boy also contributed in his preparation early on his in ring career. His training partners and future rivals were Luminoso, and American Rebel. Debuted on October 22, 1999 in Arena Nacionalista in a one on one against Despiadado. He had the opportunity to debut as Príncipe Negro Jr., but he turned it down, because he believed that name was for his older brother. Instead he chose the name of Rey Negro.
Career
Gifted with good mat skills he wrestled mostly in Mexicali, and the State of Baja California and surrounding areas. He also appeared in some cities of Southern California, including San Diego, and the Imperial Valley County. With his father Príncipe Negro and his brother Príncipe Negro Jr. formed the trio Imperio Negro. Rey Negro made a very good championship record including the Baja California Lightweight, Welterweight and Middleweight titles, the Baja California Tag Team title with Caudillo II. With his older brother, Príncipe Negro Jr. conquered the Pacific Coast Tag Team Championships. He had the Americas Championship in Middleweight and Heavyweight divisions. Among other titles he had the OML Lightheavyweight title and LPF Championship.
Had championship matches individually as well as tag team matches against opponents such as Furia Roja, Negro Azteca, El Traidor, Guerrero Rojo, Humilde, Genio del Aire, American Rebel, El Pzayko, Rey Cobra, La Rata Negra, and more.
Notable Feuds
Rey Negro had rivalries which ended in Luchas de Apuestas matches like the one with Bronco. Probably his longest feud was against American Rebel who was considered the best wrestler in Mexicali during the new millenium. Actually that feud began since they were training partners and it continued with Championship matches until they went to the mask vs mask. On January 1, 2015, it marked the end of a long time rivalry with Voltron. The ending was controversial due to the constant interventions and the bottle shot which ended the match. The full Arena Nacionalista was in shock. They did not accept the result and asked for the indult. Several minutes passed and the commisioner did not do anything. Rey Negro decided to unmask himself instead of being indulted revealing his real name, Anibal Hernández.
