Kenny Omega made his debut in Mexico at Triplemanía XXVII, teaming with The Young Bucks in a losing effort against Fénix, Pentagón Jr., and Laredo Kid. After the bout, Omega challenged Fénix for the AAA Heavyweight Championship. On October 19, 2019 in the evet of Héroes Inmortales XIII celebrated at Coliseo La Concordia in Orizaba, Veracruz, Omega defeated Fénix to become the new champion.
