On August 10, 2016 Ring of Honor (ROH) began a working relationship with CMLL. CMLL wrestlers began appearing at ROH events such as Stuka Jr., Dragon Lee II, & Ángel de Oro. ROH wrestlers began appearing at CMLL shows such as Matt Taven, Flip Gordon and Kenny King. ROH held a tournament to crown their first Six Man (Trios) Champions in which Ultimo Guerrero, Hechicero, & Okumura competed as Team CMLL.
