Biography

Mario Gomez Najera was born in Pachuca, Hidalgo on October 22, 1930. At the age of he attended the Centro Social y Deportivo Pachuca in order to practice weightlifting and he met amateur wrestlers. He befriended with them and began his in ring training. He made his debut in a small Arena in Tulancingo on 1950 under the name of Lino Mayo. His second ring name was Roble Ocadiz. Francisco Flores gave him the opportunity to train at Arena Afición. One day he was reading a book about the Ancient Egypht; he got the idea to create the character of Karis La Momia. In 1956 he made his at Arena Libertad his entrance was inside a caseta causing terror to the crowd. This character caused great expectations becoming a draw to the crowds just to see him.

Arena Libertad became small for the hundreds of fans who made lines to see him each week. Francisco Flores, the same promoter who gave him the first opportunity to train in a ring did not like the idea of the terrorífic character, he had no choice. In the end he had to accept to present him due to the people's demand. Karis La Momia was in the main event at Arena Afición, where he competed with the greatest luchadors. Flores realized of the popularity of Karis La Momia, he recomended Karis to Salvador Lutteroth who presented him at Arena Coliseo and Arena Mexico.

He had notable matches against the top exponents lucha libre exponents in Mexico such as Santo, Gory Guerrero, Bobby Bonales, El Verdugo, Black Shadow, Huracán Ramírez, Blue Demon, Joe Marín, Joe Grant, Murciélago Velázquez, Raúl Torres, and more.
