He started appearing in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara by 1970 in semi-main and main event roles. By 1972, he was wrestling in Arena Coliseo and Arena Mexico. He competed in the 1974 NWA Middleweight Title Tournament, defeating Septiembre Negro. He lost to Anibal in the finals in a match that Box y Lucha called the 1975 Match of the Year. He won the mask of Oro Negro on September 3rd, 1975 and later captured the hair of Tug Wilson on October 30th, 1976.
