History
Early Life
Moved to Guadalajara when his parents got divorced. Practiced boxing and basketball, but he had to learn to defend himself because he was involved in school fights. His mother was worried about her son's situation, she asked her brother El Monarca for help. His Uncle asked him to train lucha libre as a sport which could help him to channeling that energy and anger.
Training and Amateur Career
His first trainers were Diablo Velazco and Gran Cochisse at Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, but he did not tell them that he was Anibal's son. Learned Greco-Roman, Intercolegial, and Olympic wrestling winning state competitions in 1986. Continued his preparation learning the shoot-style and his uncle took him with Flash to learn lucha libre. His early in ring experiences were at Arena Jalisco owned by Zandokan. His first gimmick was Black Troop. He named himself after a tennis shoes brand. The owner of that brand of shoes was his mother's husband who also sponsored him. The novice luchador brought tennis shoes to give them away to the people.
Anibal's Fall
On 1988, Anibal learned that his began his wrestling career and contacted him to talk about his illness and he wanted him to continue with his legacy. For many years it was believed that the young boy who entered the ring after Máscara Año 2000 defeated his father and swore he would get revenge one day and removed his father's mask, but he refused to give it to Máscara Año 2000 and put it on would become Anibal Jr., but the reality is very different. That boy who protagonized that famous lucha libre highlight was an Anibal's son but not the one who is Aníbal Jr. The then Black Troop attended his father's mascara contra mascara, and previously was told by Anibal that after the match he would introduce him as his son and his successor, but everything took a very different turn. The young wrestler came from Guadalajara and watched the match with Mano Negra. Aníbal gave one of his masks to him and he would keep it inside his jacket until the end of the match when his father would ask him to put it on and go to the ring. Howver, Anibal called him go to the dressing room before the main event started. When he arrived, Anibal told him that he would not present him at the end of match as he promised, instead his other son of his then wife would be the one who appear in the ring. Anibal apologized and the saddened young luchador left the dressing room and went back to his seat. In despite of that episode, he would eventually become Anibal Jr. and would hold wrestling shows honoring his father's memory.
The Son of La Saeta Azul
On 1992 he was invited by Octagon to join AAA, but as Anibal Jr. but he did not considered ready to don the legendary mask. Instead he went as La Saeta Azul wearing a very similar attire to the one of his father worked for AAA until mid 1993. By late 1993, Carlos Maynes and Manny Guzman wanted him in UWA but now as El Hijo de Aníbal. In order to make his debut at El Toreo he passed a rigorous test. Contined working at UWA until 1995, he was affected by his father's demise and decided to take a sabbatical year, but it took even more time.
The Return
Anibal Jr.'s comeback was sudden, on August 17, 2001, Kato Kung Lee Jr. unmasked a Fake Anibal Jr. in the finals of a cage match in Auditorio de Tijuana. When the real Anibal Jr. learned about that fraud, he took legal actions and sued the promoter Benjamin Mora and also made his official return to the active competition.[1]
He is found working in main events in the independent circuit in México. He had traveled in independent promotions in the United States, Japan, tours in Europe, Central and part of South America. Received an invitation to participate in Michinoku Pro Wrestling's Fukumen World League 2003 along with Atlantis. [2]. Had stints in CMLL and AAA.
In 2008, IWRG seemed as if they were going to push him as a bigger in company star, by trying to associate themselves with the Anibal legacy as CMLL has done with Santo and Blue Demon. This went as far as creating a Leyenda de Seda tournament and using Anibal regularly. Like all the other touring independent stars, Hijo del Anibal vanished from the company in late 2008 when IWRG lost television (and the TV money.)
On 2015 during a match he suffered a appendicitis which lead a peritonitis that was almost fatal for him. He spent about a year recovering.
Trainer of new generations of wrestlers since at least 2004, in the Anibal Gym. Also promotes lucha libre in Cuatitlan Izcalli in Promociones Saeta Azul.
