Profile
El Jalisco I was born on January 13th, 1958, in Mexico City. He was trained by Rolando Vera and others. He debuted in 1974 in Los Angeles as "Terremoto Quintero" and used other names such as Apolo Casillas early on, but made his name as El Jalisco.
The gimmick was based on the state in Mexico. His mask featured two golden towers on it with a cross, which was based off of the Guadalajara Cathedral in Jalisco.
He won one of his first apuestas matches when in 1975, he defeated Ave de Fuego for his mask. He and his brother, El Jalisco II then captured the hairs of Chanoc and Mario Valenzuela on September 20th, 1978.
Despite having a more memorable mask than others, he did not hold onto the mask very long. He started appearing for EMLL in August 1978(that we know of) along with Jalisco II. The two were involved with Los Fantasticos of Kung Fu and Kato Kung Lee from the start, with Lee teaming with the brothers on October 13th, 1978. While the result of that match is unknown, the very next week, those two teams were involved in a tag team torneo. The following week on October 27th, 1978, likely following something that happened in the torneo, the two teams faced off in a double mask vs mask match. El Jalisco I and II were defeated and unmasked as Adolfo Placencia Casillas & Mario Placencia Casillas.
El Jalisco I and II continued on in EMLL. The pair spent most of their time in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, where they were often in the main event or the semi-main event in various trios matches. They feuded with Tony Salazar and Carlos Plata throughout April 1979 and began a program against Calavera I and Calavera II in June 1979. The pairs faced off in a super libre match, a match for the Calavera's Occidente Tag Team Championship and finally in a hair vs hair match on August 5th, 1979. This time, the brothers Jalisco won, taking the hairs of both Calavera's. Jalisco I along with II had chances at the NWA World Middleweight Championship and the Occidente Middleweight Championship in summer 1979, but were unsuccessful.
On September 21st, 1980, El Jalisco teamed with El Cobarde to capture the hairs of Leo López and Manuel Robles at Arena Coliseo. Jalisco also had a shot at the Mexican National Middleweight Championship held by El Faraon on December 21st, 1981, but was unsuccessful.
Jalisco had a slow 1981 but started getting back into the Arena Mexico cards in 1982. He and Rayo de Jalisco Jr., formed a natural team and feuded a little with Rey Salomón and Tony Benetto. The team also got involved with Carlos Plata and MS-1. The feud began in June 1982 and ended up resulting in a double hair and mask match with the Jalisco team defeating Plata for his hair and MS-1 for his mask. This was not the end of MS-1's and El Jalisco's issues though as the two met in a hair vs hair match on July 23rd, 1982. Jalisco won the first fall by pinfall and MS-1 took the second fall with an armbar. In the 3rd fall, Jalisco hit a tope on MS-1 which knocked out both man, with neither man being able to make it in the ring in time before being counted out. In what may have been the first ever time this happened, the referee decided that both men would have to have their hair cut, shocking the crowd.
In Fall 1982, he started to wrestle against La Fiera from time to time. Jalisco's team was disqualified against Fiera's team on December 17th, 1982 and the two settled it the next week in a super libre match, though the result was unknown. This was not the end of the feud as on February 18th, 1982, the two met up in a hair vs hair match. While it was only the 4th match on a six-match show, Jalisco defeated Fiera for his hair. Jalisco was often paired with Cien Caras around this time.
He captured the NWA World Middleweight Championship from Satanico on February 20th, 1983. It does not seem he made any defenses of the title before losing it back to Satanico on April 13th, 1983. And on December 11th, 1983, he grabbed the hair of Pirata Morgan.
He had either stopped wrestling or took up a new gimmick in 1984, as we only have a handful of results featuring his name after until 2007, when he started appearing again in California.
