The group of LLI promoters held a tournament to determine the first UWA World Middleweight Champion. The semifinals were held in Monterrey and the final in Mexico City.

It is unclear who Anibal beat in the first round or when. Halcon 177 mentioned Huracan Ramirez as the fourth person in the tournament, but their listings are not correct for other championships, and Huracan Ramirez is listed in the UWA Welterweight Championship tournament instead.
