== Alphabet jumps ==

You are my hero. Now... let's start adding new ones. The world needs a VAGABUNDO bio for sure. We also need a new cool front page, like the real wikipedia, to announce what's new, etc. Do I leave that to you? [[User:Wagnerpanther|wagner/panther]] 00:22, 2 Sep 2005 (CDT)
Didn't know where to put this, but ever since the last update the Alphabet jumps haven't been working. --[[User:Flashmagic|Flashmagic]] 00:07, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Now, we just have to work on making sure everything's linked up (especially in the biography sections), and oh yeah, there's this [[Special:Wantedpages|big huge list]] of pages that need information. I guess I'll go through and start editing existing articles, putting links and cleaning up the writing. --[[User:Suplexmasta|Suplexmasta]] 07:16, 2 Sep 2005 (CDT)

Also, while I'm thinking about it, could someone talk to Rev Ray from DVDVR and see if he'd let us use his [http://www.deathvalleydriver.com/bbbowm/bbbowm.htm Big Big Book of Wrestling Moves] to fill out some of the move descriptions. If not, I could write up descriptions and find pics, but if I can use the BBBOWM, I only have to find pics, which is much easier. Just an idea, though.--[[User:Suplexmasta|Suplexmasta]] 07:20, 2 Sep 2005 (CDT)
I like [[Yack]] as much as anyone... but isn't it about time a new profile is featured? -- [[User:Crpls|Crpls]] 04:04, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

For generic moves I think it's a good idea. For flying moves or lucha submissions I'd rather have Rob Bihari do the descriptions if he's up for it. Also once this is "open" and people is fully aware, I imagine people will start adding stuff. I think we need to set up some rules. Here's some suggestions and let's see what everybody thinks.
== Lucha Television Info ==

- If a wrestler has wrestled even just once in Mexico, he/she qualifies. Example: Nishimura, American Dragon. Exeption would be WWE wrestlers. HHH, Randy Orton, don't qualify.
I don't know if it really qualifies as lucha libre, but there is now a show called "100% Lucha" on Teléfe Internacional from Argentina.  It features absurd GLOW-like gimmicks (surfer, delivery boy, pharaoh, ninja, Scottish Highlander, snake, chiropractor) on luchadores that are supposed to be from different parts of the world (Cairo, Milan, Chicago, Istanbul, etc.). The wrestling is vaguely lucha libre-style when it has any style at all. --[[User:DaClyde|DaClyde]] 19:54, 26 Mar 2006 (CST)
- If a wrestler has never wrestled in Mexico, he/she doesn't qualify. Exceptions would be wrestlers who are wrestling real lucha style. ROH, Michinoku Pro, most Texas feds, aren't lucha libre. Some of AWS is lucha libre. Those guys qualify.
- This is a lucha encyclopedia and not a picture book. Irrelevant pictures should be deleted. When uploading pictures I'd say "common sense"... but at work I have had bad experiences when leaving people to act on "common sense". :)

Any comments, suggestions, ideas? [[User:Wagnerpanther|wagner/panther]] 13:06, 2 Sep 2005 (CDT)
It would appear that "100% Lucha" is the successor to previous Argentine lucha libre shows "Titanes en el Ring" and "Lucha Fuerte" from the 1980s.  Twenty years later, it even features some of the same talent.--[[User:DaClyde|DaClyde]] 09:24, 29 March 2006 (CST)

I agree with all you're saying. I'll see if I can think of anything to add, and then we need to formalize the rules and post them someplace visible.
Added to the list. Thanks! --[[User:Nkhan|thecubsfan]] 15:07, 31 March 2006 (CST)

== CHIKARA? ==

Unless someone has a smart idea for the City/State/Date stuff, I'm just ignoring it for now. I'll get to the titles - even if it's gonna have to be primary ripping off wrestling-titles - sooner.
I'm not totally sure if this really IS lucha libre, but there's this small indy in Pennsylvania that's lucha libre-influenced called CHIKARA. Would this count, and if so, would I be allowed to write an article on it? [[User:Pyroflame|Pyroflame]] 16:34, 18 April 2007 (EDT)

unrelated: I was reading that Jack O'Brien was the first Mexican National Heavyweight champion and I'm confused - did the 'only (believed) Mexicans can win the Mexican National titles' stipulation come later?
We've discussed this sort of thing internally back when we were setting up the site (and I wish I had those e-mails in front of me at the moment.) I can see the value of adding of CHIKARA as a promotion page, because we've got enough eligible bios of guys who've worked in Mexico and for that group ([[Mike Quackenbush]], [[Skayde]], [[Chris Hero]]) that you could make a case for a category of people who have worked there.
unrelated 2: should we use the Community Portal page as a general discussion page and leave this talk for corrections/changes?
--[[User:Nkhan|thecubsfan]] 13:37, 2 Sep 2005 (CDT)

Good. We'll formalize the rules and also include stuff about "real name" usage, etc. I'll start adding new shit later today or tomorrow.
The problem is doing a CHIKARA page would seem to open the door for people to post bios of everyone's who ever worked for that promotion once and, by extension, eventually every US indy wrestler ever. It wouldn't actually open that door, because I'd be removing those pages as soon as I see 'em, but then we'd have other people wasting time making pages (new people to ignore the rules) and me wasting time deleting them, all for one promotion's page.

O'Brien had a Mexican passport which I think was the "trick". I wondered about it when I wrote about it, too. A few years ago Salsero won some national title as well.
It'd be nice if there was a way to add CHIKARA without causing issues, but I don't see one right now. --[[User:Nkhan|thecubsfan]] 11:03, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

I agree about the portal suggestion. I'm moving this same message there so we can delete this. [[User:Wagnerpanther|wagner/panther]] 13:44, 2 Sep 2005 (CDT)

While viewing wrestling on justin.tv, I came across a channel for XEJTV Canal 5--Cuidad Juarez. Turns out it's official since the official site-- http://www.xejtv.com --also has a link to the justin.tv site under "en vivo". Anyway, both CMLL and AAA are shown on Saturday (CMLL) and Sunday (AAA). The time tends to vary depending on if it's preempted by NFL or something. However, it is viewable online.  Preemption of shows were usually by an hour to an hour and a half. [[User:SWIFT|SWIFT]] 21:52, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

I liked how Robert included places to buy tapes for the matches in his list, so along those lines, how about including a listing of lucha libre being aired on TV in North America?  Aside from CMLL, there's at least WWA International on Fox Sports en Espanol, anyone know of any others?

I was just wondering if there is some code or something that would automatically change all dates into a single consistent date format (like autocorrect). # CMLL TV(Galavision Mexico + U.S.)
# AAA TV(Galavision Mexico + U.S.)
# IWRG TV (AYM Sports in Mexico)
# LLL TV(Canal 52 in Mexico)
# CMLL Guadalajara TV(Some satellite channel in Mexico)
# WWA TV(Fox Sports Espanol)
# Arena Coliseo De Monterrey TV(Multimedios in Monterrey)
# Monterrey TV(I don't know the name of the channel in Monterrey)
(This show either tapes in Gimnasio Nuevo Leon, Arena Solidaridad or if a big show is going on in Monterrey they cover that show such as when CMLL ran Arena Monterrey, LLF ran Gimnasio Nuevo Leon or that new Lucha Libre VIP show that just took place at some outdoor venue.)

Those are all the confirmed Lucha Libre TV shows in North America. Overseas you only have CMLL TV on Samurai TV but they edit the first 30 minutes of the Mexican show out and only air the Arena Mexico matches. I'm guessing they are missing more now with CMLL TV being extended to 2:30-3:00 in Mexico. -Robert
First, thanks for all the date fixes you've done of late. It's appreciated.

This is a good idea. We could definiely set up a couple of pages to put together (and link in a lot of cases; no need for the guys keeping track of the WWA stuff to have to repeat) for this sort of purpose. It's on the Things To Do list. (Thing to Do #1: Post thing to do list.)
There is this add in code - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Date_Formatter - where if you put the date in a series of tags

Rob: Second button from the right on the button bar. Looks sorta like a signature. Alternatively, typing <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki> will do it.

year as <date>1 January 2006</date> was, at least, in respect of
being <date>January 1</date>..

It doesn't quite do what you're looking for though - it turns words into numbers, but doesn't seem like it'll work if we already have it numbers.

What I think we need to do is have someone make a script that just looks thru all the profile pages, checks for those dates, and converts them. That person is usually me, but I haven't ever figured out how to make a bot that'll consistently work here. Not sure who else to get it. I will give it another try when I get a chance. --[[User:Thecubsfan|Thecubsfan]] ([[User talk:Thecubsfan|talk]]) 14:05, 26 March 2015 (CDT)
