History of Championship
The Empresa de Lucha Libre Mexicana (ELLMEX) began a tournament at finals 2013 in order to crown the inaugural champion for the promotion. Imagen Nocturna qualified for the finals by winning an eliminatory in Los Angeles, California, while Príncipe Águila, and Príncipe Franky qualified by winning the one in Dallas, Texas. The final participant who qualified was the local Imperio Azteca by winning the eliminatory held in Chicago, Illinois. The tournament final took place on January 19, 2014 at The Olympic Theater in Cicero. Imperio Azteca became the first champion by defeating Imagen Nocturna, Príncipe Águila, and Príncipe Franky.
In summer 2019, Bandolero won the GALLI Classic Championship over Atomico. Two weeks later, he bet his championship against Rey Fuego, who put his ELLMEX Championship on the line, to become a double champion. A month later, Bandolero successfully challenged GALLI Junior Champion Eros to a Winner Takes All Match with three titles on the line to become a triple champion.
