The AAA/IWC World Tag Team Championship was introduced in 1993. It was formerly known as the Pacific Northwest Tag Team Championship, as Konnan and Love Machine defeated Polynesian Prince and the Tazmanian Devil for the titles on a CWUSA show in Portland, Oregon on January 9, 1993. Shortly thereafter, Konnan and Love Machine imported the belts to Mexico and never brought them back.
