In May of 2010, Arena Coliseo Guadalajara announced a tournament to determine a new Occidente Light Heavyweight Championship. The tournament took place from May to June, on the weekly Sunday's show. Two matches would take place each show, until the final match. Brackets were never explained. Neither was the odd 10 person format, but the tournament did make sense when it was completed.

The final, held on May 30, actually had no finish. Gallo and Mr. Trueno's match was ruled a draw after both were pinned at the same time in the third fall. The two replayed the final the following week, with Gallo winning.
