Profile
Camilo Perez was born in 1918 in Coahuila, Mexico. He is assumed to have only finished primary school. He initally trained in boxing but as he began to grow and gain weight, he moved on. He began wrestling training under Raul Torres and made his debut years later in 1948 by defeating Pablo Romero in Guadalajara. He was famous for his ugly face which one could say resembled a bulldog, hence his name of "El Bulldog". He was also known for wrestling a rough and tough style which further justified the name.
He had a famous match where he teamed with Gori Guerrero against Sugi Sito and Joe Marin, which was said to be one of the bloodiest matches ever in lucha libre. Though his most famous partner was Medico Asesino with the two being considered one of the best teams in Mexico.
From our records, he had at least two apuestas matches, though he likely had many more. On July 28th, 1962, he defeated a wrestler named Chico for his hair and in 1965, he lost to Zorro Plateado in a mask vs hair match.
Outside of the ring, he was said to be a tailor. And in a strange note, he was also accidentally immortalized in a song called "Los Luchadores" by La Sonora Santanera. The song mentions various wrestlers such as El Santo and Blue Demon but also mentions a wrestler named El Bulldog. Even though most assumed the song was referencing Perez, the El Bulldog in the song was completely fictional.
El Bulldog passed away on September 5th, 1980.
