Despite leaving AAA, Cometa and Pegasso took the name of their old unit (Real Fuerza Aérea AAA) with them to the independent scene in 2008. In IWRG, they briefly teamed with Freelance whom fit in with the style of the original group. After a few months on the indies, they were brought in to CMLL for the beginning of 2009 and teased called themselves Real Fuerza Aérea CMLL (very much displeasing AAA and their former partners) but have sense dropped the name.
