Current Champion
LA Park has held the original IWC World Heavyweight Title since defeating Pirata Morgan on 1998.08.14 in Cuernavaca. He occasionally defends it as the IWC Hardcore Title in order to do street fight matches for the belt which normally wouldn't be allowed. The belt has not been defended in more than two and a half years however Parka still poses it every chance he gets in magazines and often brings it to the ring with him at non-TV shows.
Meanwhile AAA has this same title although the belt isn't the original. This stems from a 1998 controversy between Pirata Morgan and the IWRG promotion. Cibernetico held the belt for 7 years and it was thought to be a forgotten championship until for some reason on August 18, 2007 in Toluca, the belt was defended and won by El Mesias.
History of Championship
The IWC World Heavyweight Title was created on 1993.11.13 by Ron Skoler who used the IWC name to promote AAA shows in the United States. When Pena and Skoler had a falling out, Pena decided to have all the IWC Champions at the time lose their belts to his National champions, thus unifying the belts. The only title not to receive this treatment was the IWC World Heavyweight Title.
