Career Highlights
- In the first half of the 60's Don Kent went to Arizona and worked in the local wrestling promotion, where he was booked as a sadistic heel. In Arizona, Kent worked a storyline that drew full houses at the Phoenix Madison Square Garden against local face (good guy) Tito Montez.
- The two faced off week after week in a variety of specialty matches such as a chain match, “Arizona death match” and falls count anywhere match.
- From the late 50's through the 70's, Tito Montez was the top star reigned in Arizona.
- He held numerous titles, including versions of the Arizona State title, United States Title and "World Tag Team" titles as recognized in the area.
- Montez lost and won the Arizona Heavyweight belt so many times fans lost track of how many times he wore it.
- He was also branded "The Champion Of The Cage" due to his beating so many people in this form of match. Only one man, Jody Arnold, ever defeated him in the cage.
- Blood feuds were common for Tito, as were bloody matches.
- 14,000 fans turned out at a baseball stadium to see a card headlined by Tito, Sputnik Monroe and Mario Galento with Pro Boxing Champion Joe Louis as a referee.
- Tito for nine weeks straight feuded with Don Kent at the old Phoenix Madison Square Garden in the 60's and filled the arena to standing room only each week. He finally defeated Kent in a cage and ended the feud on the tenth week
- The angle ended with a steel cage match that saw Montez win after overcoming Kent’s cheating ways.
- One week after the storyline ended, attendance dropped by half and Don Kent soon left the area.
- Tito Montez was inducted into the Oregon/Washington Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.
- Tito Montez was also inducted into the Western States Wrestling Hall of Fame.
- 2003: Tito Montrez was honored by the Cauliflower Alley Club for his outstanding career achievements.
