That's a very different-looking belt than the one Mesias had at the end and doesn't match the previous style. It could be someone making a new belt, but I suspect it might be the same belt that was being used as the middleweight championship under a different name. --thecubsfan (talk) 20:59, 28 February 2021 (PST)

I looked through the Just Tap Out tweets and their website, this was an unnecessary deep dive
* TAKA calls it the UWA Lightweight Championship
* many of the fans and even the group Black Chango is in seems to think it's the Light Heavyweight champion
* one person says it's the UWA Junior Light Heavyweight Championship
I think that one person is right? the photo on their website shows the belt clearly, it says Light Heavyweight and JR, though I can't find another JLH belt like that. It's TAKA belt so it's probably canonically supposed to be the lightweight title.
As best I can tell, Black Chango just appears with it on their December show, maybe having snatched it out some collector's trophy case. --Thecubsfan (talk) 21:19, 28 February 2021 (PST)

Revision as of 23:19, 28 February 2021

The date of Zorro's first title win is based off a tape listing - I don't know that's the title change date, but it would seem to fit.

Zorro has the belt on current AAA TV (April 2007-ish), but it's a complete mystery how he got the title back. --thecubsfan 15:48, 1 June 2007 (EDT)

Can we confirm Chessman won Zorro's belt? I don't remember reading that...--Robert 03:18, 3 September 2007 (EDT)

on today AAA tv show chessman appear with the title

1987-9ish weirdness

We have Loco Zandokan defeating Villano I for the title on 1987.01.17. Here's Villano I still defending the same title on 1987.12.11:

Maybe the title change is a year off? Wrestling-Titles also lists iffy Ringo & Zadokan title reigns during this period. --Thecubsfan (talk) 14:15, 11 December 2013 (CST)

And I found another record of a Villano I title defense on 1987.07.22 (vs Brazo de Oro in Arena Naucalpan.) Maybe the title change is just off a year? Going to take the day off. --Thecubsfan (talk) 14:44, 22 December 2013 (CST)

Title revived in Japan?

Hey Thecubsfan. It seems this title may have surfaced in Japan possibly? - https://www.cagematch.net/?id=1&nr=304428&page=2. K-Dojo/JTO used to have the UWA World Middleweight Championship, but this is definitely named the lightweight title. From what I could find, neither Black Chango or Eagle Mask won it from anyone. This is what it looks like -
