Ray Mendoza vacated the UWA World Light Heavyweight Championship for unknown reasons. (Mendoza had a history of injuries in adjacent years, though it's unclear if that was the specific reason.)
Promociones Mora held a tournament for a new champion over October and November shows.

October 7
- Anibal defeated Huracan Ramirez
- Kurisu defeated Dorrel Dixon
- Gran Hamada defeated Cesar Valentino
- Dos Caras defeated Villano I
November 4
- Gran Hamada defeated Kurisu for the championship.
The November 4th match was later awarded the UWA match of the year. The two rematched on December 9th, also won by Hamada.
