Profile
Francasico Salinas was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, though he claimed be born in Argel, Angola. He also claimed to move to Guadalajara at the age of 3. He debuted in 1967 and eventually took up the name "Mazambula El Brujo". The name Mazambula likely refers to a city in the country of Congo and "El Brujo" translates to "The Wizard" or "The Witch". This was all very fitting as his character was that of a witch doctor.
Little is known of his career. On February 15th, 1976, he competed in three person mask vs mask vs mask tournament alongside Anibal and El Remington. Mazambula won both of his matches, keeping him safe from losing his mask and in the finals, Anibal defeated El Remington.
He had a rivalries with Sergio Borrayo, whom he defeated in a mask vs hair match at an unknown date and Dos Caras. The feud with Dos Caras reached its peak on May 1st, 1976, when they met in a mask vs mask match. Mazambula won the first fall, but Dos won the second fall with a crab. In the 3rd fall, the match went to the floor with Mazambula taking a tope by Dos Caras and getting knocked out, and therefore losing the match and his mask.
Mazambula would pass away less than 5 years later as while working as a bodyguard, he was killed. Despite his death, the Mazambula name lived on. A wrestler by the name of Mazambula Jr. appeared on the scene around 1987 and a wrestler from Tijuana also took up the name of Mazambula.
