Began to train in 1970 at the of 15 with Rolando Vera for two years then he continued with Dick Medrano, after him he was trained by Rene Guajardo until his debut on December 25, 1979 at La Monumental de Monterrey with Guajardo's Division del Norte. He went in a tag team match with Lucero Azul against Payutla & As Negro.
His first ringname was Babe Joe to honor Babe Face. He made a good career under that name, but sometimes he was confused with Babe Face.
