The NWA Mexico Welterweight Championship is a professional wrestling championship defended in the independent circuit of both Mexico and United States. The championship originally was promoted by NWA Mexico until their disband. This one and the NWA Mexico Lightweight Championship were the two NWA championship endorsed by the NWA in Mexico.
Current Champion
Corsario de Fuego is the current champion. He defeated Skayde on September 7, 2014 in Arena Xalapa of Xalapa, Veracruz to win the title.
History of Championship
The same physical belt is used as Skayde's NWA Mexico Lightweight Championship; there only appears to be one belt between them both, but they can both declare themselves as singles champions (of questionable merit.) The title in name is part of the rarely seen NWA Mexico promotion, but the title defenses have come as part of Turbo's participation in the Perros del Mal.
On November 13, 2013, the PWR announced through their official website the disband of NWA Mexico and, by subsequent, the end of the history of both championships promoted by them. Although Skayde previously defended his NWA Mexico Lightweight Championship in Illinois, when both titles were declared vacant, Turbo's NWA Mexico Welterweight Championship began to be defended here. On December 13, 2013, Skayde Jr. defeated Bandolero Star and Skayde to become the new NWA Mexico Welterweight Champion.
