Misawa, possibly the greatest professional wrestler of all time, spent most of his career in Japanese promotions AJPW and NOAH, which he founded. Misawa's time in Mexico was in CMLL as part of a learning excursion.
Misawa, teaming with fellow AJPA novato Samuari Shiro, started in Mexico from March 16, 1984 and was expected to say a year. Misawa was quickly brought back to Japan to redebut on July 31, 1984, as the new Tiger Mask after AJPW purchased the rights to use the character in wrestling.
