After signing with [[WWF]], Lockwood was sent to Monterrey to continue training, and to pick up the lucha libre style. He spent 3 months there, and by his own account hated every minute and clashed with everyone. He claimed the luchadores forced him to live in filthy, vermin-infested accommodation and train outside in boiling heat. This boiled over during a match involving [[Pimpinela Escarlata]], where he deliberately injured Pimpi with a powerbomb. Soon after he called the WWF asking to be brought up or freed to leave, and soon started in WWE as Crash Holly.
