Jalisco is a state in western México, south of Nayarit, north of Michoacán and Colima, and bordering the Pacific coast. It is one of México's most populous states, and the Guadalajara metro area is among the most important in the country.

Jalisco has a long and storied history of wrestling, much of it centered on the capital city, Guadalajara. Arena Coliseo Guadalajara is a CMLL-owned arena that long housed Diablo Velazco's training school, funneling countless wrestlers to Arena México over the years. It was an important arena in its own right as well, with a locally broadcasted television show as far back as the 1980s. Several indy promotions run in Guadalajara, but AAA has never made serious inroads in the city. Most of their big shows in Jalisco have taken place in Zapopan (Auditorio Benito Juarez) or Tonalá (Auditorio Río Nilo). It was in the latter that Love Machine lost his hair to Blue Panther and turned rudo.

An exhaustive list of every prominent wrestler to come from Jalisco would be ridiculously long. Briefly, Rito Romero came from here, and the name of his signature hold, La Tapatía, references his origins in Jalisco. The Dantés family hails from Guadalajara, as does Satánico. Rayo de Jalisco Jr. comes from the capital too, but his father does not. Los Hermanos Dinamita and La Nueva Generación Dinamita are from Lagos de Moreno. Atlantis is from Acatic. El Solitario is from Tlaquepaque, and his longtime partner and rival Ángel Blanco is from the much smaller city of Atoyac. Ringo and Cachorro Mendoza are from Mezcala de Asunción.
