Notes

Rudy and Marco Antonio "Tony" were lifelong friends since childhood and wrestled together and against each other before the creation of Los Hermanos Carta Brava. Rudy wrestled as a masked wrestler, an unmasked wrestler, a tecnico and a rudo before becoming Carta Brava II. Marco was never have known to wrestle without a mask or wrestle as a rudo.

During wrestling tours throughout Mexico as Los Hermanos Carta Brava, if another wrestler did not have an opponent or a replacement was needed, Rudy would go unmasked as wrestle as "Ruddy Gomez". He never tired of wrestling and lived to wrestle anywhere there was a venue to wrestle in. During one of his matches against the James brothers, Rudy suffered an intentional back injury from one of the James brothers that would result in a life long rivalry with them. after almost one year, Rudy ultimately recuperated. Both he and Marco violently defeated the James brothers in a long and drawn out three round match the would put an end to the James brothers career.

After Rudy retired in 1971 to move to the United States, it was known that two other wrestlers assumed the name and mask of Carta Brava. Before his death, Rudy related that Marco Antonio Garcia was never known to have a son or male family member who assumed his name and persona. Rudy also related that Marco did inform him that he allowed two other wrestlers to use the name of Carta Brava after Rudy had retired. One of the wrestlers, Perro Sosa, lost the mask in a match not long after assuming the name of Carta Brava. Roberto "Bobby" Bolaños was the other wrestler who used the name of Carta Brava and quickly lost his mask in 1972. Neither of the two were the "original" Carta Brava as the only original was Marco Antonio who created the persona and then Rudy Gomez whom he asked to be his partner as Los Hermanos Carta Brava. Marco Antonio never wrestled with these other two wrestlers as a duo. His only partner in wrestling as Los Hermanos Carta Brava was Rudy Gomez. It is suspected that the current Carta Brava Jr (AAA) and the other Carta Brava Jr (IWG) are either sons of one of the two wrestlers who assumed the Carta Brava name and persona after Rudy retired and after Marco Antonio had lost his mask against Leon Negro.

In this Luchawiki site under the name CARTA BRAVA, a new picture has recently been inserted into the gallery. It is believed that this is Perro Sosa wrestling under the newly assumed name of Carta Brava. It is with certainty that it is not Marco Antonio Garcia or Rudy Gomez. In the article it states that he is the "new" Carta Brava and is a "rudo". Neither Marco Antonio or Rudy wrestled as "rudos" while they were Los Hermanos Carta Brava. They wrestled as "tecnicos".

There was never any animosity between Marco and Daniel Garcia Arteaga who was given the persona of Huracan Ramirez. They were very good friends outside of the ring and inside of the ring and had great respect for each other. Additionally, Los Hermanos Carta Brava wrestled as a trio with Huracan Ramirez, El Santo and other famous wrestlers on several occasions.

An interesting note about the mask design of Carta Brava, Rudy related that Marco had actually created 3 designs for the Huracan Ramirez persona after having played the part himself in the beginning creation of the persona and movie. Marco even did the wrestling scenes in the first movie as Huracan Ramirez. After not being given the persona of Huracan Ramirez, Marco created the persona of Carta Brava and wrestled with a solid black mask and shorts. Two of the designs that he created stayed with the Huracan Ramirez persona and he kept the third design which is the current design of the Carta Brava mask. Rudy stated the mask design was never a "consolation prize" as rumored since Marco himself had designed them. Rudy believed that Marco had been paid for the two designs which were a bit more elaborate than the one he kept to use as the Carta Brava design. It was only until Marco had asked Rudy to join him as a partner did he add the design on the side of the mask that he kept from the original Huracan Ramirez designs.

Before Rudy retired, he and Marco had added a curve to the bottom curl of the design which was originally straight. Rudy had talked about the way masks were evolving and becoming more elaborate with the designs and colors. Rudy had always wanted to see the Carta Brava mask in a more brilliant color but retain its original design. He did state the the face of the mask was meant to be dark or to be the same color as the mask itself since the name Carta Brava meant "Wild Card" as in a card game. The opponent was never to know the face of the other player.

Rudy was surprised when he learned that Marco had lost his mask to Leon Negro. Marco was a devout wrestler and protected the persona of Carta Brava. Rudy did say that they both received long lasting injuries from their careers as luchadores and it was most probable that Marco succumbed to those earlier injuries in his later life as a luchador.

After retiring to the United States, Rudy taught wrestling to those who aspired to learn lucha libre.

It was not known exactly how Marco died since they both lost communication after Marco had lost his mask. Rudy died of kidney failure at home with his family. The last mask he wore as Carta Brava II was given to his granddaughter who keeps it encased and mounted in her living room along with a large picture of him.
